Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Undertone (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

2. Description of Service

Undertone is a reflection journal that matches a challenge you describe to a curated quote, and, for the reasons and tiers described below, may generate a short written interpretation in response. The Service is offered for personal reflection and educational purposes only. It is not therapy, counseling, medical advice, or a substitute for care from a licensed mental health professional, and it is not a crisis or emergency service — see our Disclaimer.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service.

4. Account Registration

You can use core parts of the Service anonymously. Saving your journal or subscribing to Depth requires an email address. You're responsible for maintaining the security of any credentials associated with your account and for notifying us of any unauthorized access.

5. Privacy and Confidentiality of Entries

Your journal entries and any interpretations generated from them are private. They are processed to generate your quote match, your reading (where applicable), and, for Depth-tier users, longitudinal pattern reflection. 6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the underlying quote corpus or matching logic
• Harass, abuse, or attempt to harm others through the Service
• Share your account credentials or attempt to circumvent access or safety controls

7. Subscription and Payment

Undertone's free tier includes a limited number of full interpretations. The Depth subscription ($4.99/month or $39/year) unlocks unlimited interpretations, full journal history, and pattern reflection, billed on a recurring basis until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are issued at our discretion.

8. Intellectual Property

Undertone, its quote curation, taxonomy, and underlying software are owned by ExpertFocus, LLC. You retain ownership of the entries you write. Quotes served by the Service are drawn from public-domain or otherwise appropriately licensed sources.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to uptime, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ExpertFocus, LLC's total liability arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access for violating these terms. You may delete your account at any time; your data will be removed per our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts located in California.
