1. Who We Are
Undertone is a product of ExpertFocus, LLC. For any privacy question, contact admin@expertfocus.online.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information: email address (once you save your journal or subscribe), subscription tier
- Journal data: the text of entries you write, the affect tags a classifier assigns to them, the quote matched to each entry, and, where generated, your interpretive reading and any pattern reflection
- Usage data: aggregate, anonymized metrics used to operate and improve the Service
3. Journal Privacy — In Detail
- No employee or contractor of ExpertFocus, LLC reviews your entries as a matter of course.
- Your entries are not shared with any third party for commercial or marketing purposes.
- Your entries are not used to train or fine-tune any AI model without your explicit, separately obtained consent.
- Every entry is automatically screened by an AI safety classifier before anything else happens with it. If that screening flags a genuine safety concern, a minimal record (a confidence score and a flag, not a broader review of your writing) is logged separately and used solely to support that safety response — never for analytics, marketing, or any other purpose.
- You can request deletion of your entries and account data at any time.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- Match your entries to quotes and, where applicable, generate readings and pattern reflection
- Run the safety screening described above
- Enforce subscription tier and manage billing
- Send transactional emails you'd expect (e.g. revisit prompts, pattern-reflection notices)
- Understand aggregate, anonymized usage of the Service
- Respond to support requests
5. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following subprocessors to operate Undertone:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and data storage
- Anthropic (Claude) — affect classification, quote selection, and interpretive readings
- OpenAI — safety/content moderation screening
- Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Vercel — hosting and aggregate, anonymized analytics
6. Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Journal entries are retained until you delete them or close your account. On account closure, your data is fully deleted within 30 days.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, with access controls limiting who can reach it. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact admin@expertfocus.online; we aim to respond within 30 days.
9. Children's Privacy
Undertone is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 18.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you by email or an in-service notice. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised policy.
